Daily Prompt: I Pledge Allegiance

I Pledge Allegiance

Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?

I am very patriotic. I love the United States of America. Being patriotic is believing in your country. To stand by it when the times are good and when the times are bad. To support it even in the face of evil. To give your life for your country, for the people you love, and for your fellow man. I believe our founding fathers were great men. They believed in life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. America stands for so much. However the younger generations are losing touch with their patriotic ties. They are becoming complacent with no greater cause to give them a purpose. It seems to me that people, countries only come together in fear of a greater evil. Well I believe there is a greater evil out there; global hunger, children with no homes, and civil unrest. People have lost sight of what it means to believe in their country since they have no reason to band together. I however have not lost sight and one day I will show others the way to a global community where life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is possible for every man and women of any race, ethnicity, or religion. Life is meant to be lived, so help me give others the chance to live it without fear of death, fear of starvation, fear of an unjust society. Fear, I wish to help every man and woman overcome their greatest fear. To live in a world without fear.

***Country: n. 1) A nation with its own government, occupying a particular territory. 2) Districts and small settlements outside large towns, cities, or the capital.
