Drawing a Blank

When was the last time you walked away from a discussion, only to think of The Perfect Comeback hours later? Recreate the scene for us, and use your winning line.

It was a normal day hanging out with my family. I was annoying my brother as usual to keep myself entertained. Teasing him and poking him always pushed his buttons. As the day went on I could tell he was getting really annoyed and the only response he could give me to my ridicule was “shut up.” Of course that didn’t stop me from teasing him, it was just too entertaining. So as he shouted, “shut up” so all he could hear I responded shut don’t go up shut go down. To his response he just looked at me and continued to say shut up shut up shut up. So I replied again shut don’t go up shut go down. After a few hours later he replied actually shut does go up. He then named two things that shut up (reference to shutting in an upward motion). The two things he named was a person’s jaw and a car window. After pondering what he had just said I continued to bug him more and every time he told me to “shut up” I would reply, “shut don’t go up shut go down except for your mouth and a car window.” I believe I got the better of him and now understand the meaning of shut up. Maybe I didn’t win with the Perfect Comeback but I did get my brother heated.

***Heated: adj. 1) Made warm or hot. 2) Inflamed with passion or conviction.
